Likeminded
Several times this year my daughter Ashley and I have been able to attend San Francisco 49er football games. Regardless of how our team is playing, these trips have been immensely enjoyable. As Ashley and I sat in the back of our pickup truck, tailgating, actually in the tailgate of a truck, we fully understood what was so fun about attending the games. There we sat in our 49er Jerseys looking around and seeing a sea of red and gold. Everyone around us was as excited about the game as we were. It’s unusual and quite thrilling to be in a place where approximately 50,000 people are likeminded. I’ve thought of this often over the past several weeks and realize that Ken and I are attending a church with approximately 275 people who are likeminded. That is what Christ called His church to be. We are focused on Jesus, striving for a relationship with God, and seeking His will. In no way are we all alike, in fact God’s plan is to have us be quite different. The body of Christ must have different body parts, but we are, after all, One Body. I am also not saying our church is better than any other church. Again THE church is the Body of Christ. As with the 50,000 people who meet in San Francisco on any given Sunday in the fall, we are not alike but our focus, our goal is the same. This is why Jesus called us to meet with other believers. Sundays are a refreshing, exciting time when we worship with others in our community who are likeminded. I praise God for these constant reminders of His perfect plan.
