Free Will
God created this planet and placed man upon it and gave all of us free will. When we are young we truly appreciate free will because no one can force their religion upon us. As we become parents we see how much more beautiful free will is. How many parents are utterly excited when their child did a chore without being asked to do it? Especially when our children said they wanted to do the chore to show love for us as parents. When this happened to me it was such a clear understanding of why God planned free will. The chore means so much more when it’s done because the person wants to do it out of love. Sometimes we have people we deeply love who have chosen to never know God, or chosen to not be in a relationship with Him any longer. This happens because of free will. This is the case in my life now. I have a couple of people who have chosen to not be in relationship with God. I told my daughter the other day that I was mad that God allows free will. I told her it would be so much better if he’d just force our loved ones to be in relationship with Him. But honestly, I don’t believe that. I truly love having a relationship with God and it’s because I WANT to be in the relationship. What then can I do? Should I try to force my loved ones into relationship with God? No it is never a good idea for us to do something that even God Himself would not do. I must put my loved ones in God’s hands, let go of them, and have faith that God will take care of them. A wise friend reminded me recently that “faith is being sure of what we hope for”. I hope for great things for my loved ones and WILL FREELY have faith that God will, in His timing reach them….No matter what, however, I am glad that God gave us free will.
